Zpryme to Host Solar Data Reverse Hackathon

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 20, 2018 — Zpryme’s startETS will be hosting the 2nd Annual Solar Data Reverse Hackathon in Austin, Texas on September 4th, 2018.

Originally conceptualized by, Kathleen Baireuther in 2016, the reverse hackathon process engages the industry in meaningful conversations about where innovation is required and educates the coding and entrepreneurial communities about business opportunities in energy, while connecting innovators with valuable resources for building a successful product and business, such as publicly available datasets, industry expertise, and other community resources.

“There is major opportunity to tap into the growth of the solar industry and Austin’s data science community to address the most pressing issues in the energy industry,” said Jason S. Rodriguez, Zpryme co-Founder and CEO. “We are proud to partner with great organizations once again to help foster the next-generation of clean energy solutions.”

The reverse pitch process starts with a discussion around real problems faced by the energy industry and educates the coding and entrepreneurial ecosystem on the solutions and areas where enterprises are looking to invest their time, money, and talent. A reverse hackathon places industry problems in the line of sight of innovators while connecting those innovators to important resources, and industry mentorships. This process is a sustained dialogue that adds value for all parties involved. Innovations that emerge through this structure are more likely to become commercialized solutions. The hackathon is also a platform to educate and engage the coding community around opportunities and resources contributing to innovative solutions in cleantech.

The program will begin with researching and interviewing energy industry stakeholders to identify problems related to solar development and deployment. The research will be followed by several educational webinars taking place on August 24th, 28th, and 31st, culminating in a hackathon on September 4th, 2018. For more event and registration information, you can register to attend the first webinar with the following link. The winner will be announced at startETS, hosted by Zpryme, on September 5th, 2018 at the One World Theater. The Zpryme partnership brings dramatically increased visibility to the hackathon and solutions developed, and positions participants to continue developing solutions even after the event.

The Solar Data Reverse Hackathon is actively seeking industry partners and sponsors, coding academies, and programmers to promote the event and engage their respective constituencies in this unique opportunity. Research partners, professional associations, and industry are also invited to contribute solar research and data sets.
