Quantum Spatial, Athena Power, and Yotta Solar announced as winners of their categories.

Quantum Spatial, one of the nine finalists to participate in the Pilot Pitch Startup Competition at start@ETS won the $6,000 prize. The competition, organized by Zpryme, was evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges who reviewed presentations on the following categories: AI, Analytics, AR/VR, Blockchain, Mobility, Renewables, Smart Cities, Smart Transportation, and Storage.

“Quantum Spatial believes in the power remote sensing can bring to utilities.  We are thrilled to be selected as the 2018 Pilot Pitch winner as it helped validate our belief that utilities can find immense value in spatial applications powered with remotely sensed data.” Stated Matt Nugent, Senior Product Manager. Quantum Spatial presented a pilot pitch for their inSITE Pole Manager, an analytics application which uses remote sensing data to analyze utility poles for clearance and measurements that are essential to performing a pole loading analysis. The cloud-based tool provides access, along with visualization tools, and integration to industry standard engineering tools.

Each pitch was presented to a panel of judges ranging from utility executive leaders to venture capitalists to technology lab incubators. In addition to pitch presentations attendees and presenters participated in riveting conversations around AI and IoT convergence, startup innovations, and the battle for utility customer data.

Winners in their respective categories were Athena Power for the analytics/cyber security/IT/OT category, Quantum Spatial for the smart cities/transportation/mobility category, and Yotta Solar for the solar/storage/renewables category. Other finalist included are GridCure, LO3 Energy, Cimcon Lighting, ResilientGrid, Aerospec Technologies, and MicroEra Power.

A day prior to the event, Zpryme hosted a Reverse Solar Data Hackathon in partnership with NREL and Austin Technology Incubators. The winning team was announced at start@ETS with a special message from NREL that also announced Zpryme as a “Power Connector” for the American Made Solar Challenge.
