A recent Zpryme and IEEE survey of 460 global smart grid executives shows that utilities, homes (residential), and manufacturing are the top industries most likely to deploy distributed generation over the next 5 years. Forty-nine percent of executives said that utilities would be the industry most likely to deploy distributed generation, followed by the residential (46%) and manufacturing (42%) sectors. Government (41%), agriculture (39%), healthcare (36%), and the military (34%) sectors ranked 4th through 7th, respectively. Mining (24%), education (24%), transportation (22%), retail (18%), and construction (16%) are ranked 8th through 12th, respectively.
The complete survey findings, which explores the global potential for energy storage, distributed generation, and microgrids, will be released in the next few days.
