I’ve been fortunate to spend a lot of time traveling and thinking with the Zpryme and Froliq teams.

One week we’re touring a power plant. The next we’re sitting with utility leaders, visiting a university, or exploring a city before the day begins. It’s one of the great privileges of what we do. Every trip introduces us to new people, different communities, and fresh perspectives.

Along the way, I’ve noticed something. Every community has a place where people naturally press pause. It might be a neighborhood coffee shop, a favorite trail, or simply a place where conversations last a little longer than expected. Those places aren’t memorable because of where they are. They’re memorable because of what they allow us to see.

When we step outside our routine, the familiar starts to look different. Patterns emerge. Questions we’ve carried for weeks suddenly find answers in unexpected conversations. We don’t escape reality, we simply experience it with a little more clarity.

Somewhere along the way, that feeling became this year’s theme: Free Your Mind.

This year, we’re bringing ETS back to Austin (our backyard) and we’d be honored to welcome you. Every attendee arrives with a perspective shaped by their utility, company, team, and community. For a few days, those perspectives come together, assumptions are challenged, friendships are strengthened, and everyone returns home seeing their work through a slightly different lens.

We’ll spend our time talking about the future of the utility industry, but I hope some of the most meaningful moments happen between the agenda. Over breakfast before the first session. During a walk after dinner. In a conversation that begins with a simple introduction and stays with you long after you’ve returned home.

If you’ll be joining us in Austin May 3–6 for ETS27, we hope you’ll enjoy the city, reconnect with friends and colleagues, meet a few new ones, and recharge in good company. Sometimes stepping away from the familiar is all it takes to return home with a clearer mind, a renewed perspective, and a few conversations you’ll carry with you long after the event has ended.

We’d love to welcome you.
