Smart Grid Awareness
In this Zpryme and PennEnergy Research consumer survey, although national smart grid awareness in the U.S. is low, there are a few states that are doing a great job when it comes to smart grid awareness. Massachusetts and Maryland lead the nation when it comes to the percent of residents who are familiar with the smart, at 52.9% and 39.3%, respectively. Interestingly, Massachusetts and Maryland are also ranked as the most educated states in the U.S. (according to the percent of the population with a bachelor’s degree). New York, Texas, Washington, and California rank third through sixth. Indiana, Louisiana, Illinois, and North Carolina are ranked seventh through tenth.
Most Likely to Purchase an EV
Plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) are far from being the vehicle of choice among the majority of Americans, however, a few early adopter states are leading the way when it comes EV adoption in the U.S. Washington and New Jersey residents are most likely to buy an EV, with 15.8% and 11.5% of residents in these states stating they are likely to buy an EV over the next 12 months. Arizona, South Carolina, Michigan, and California rank third through sixth. North Carolina, Georgia, New York, and Virginia are ranked seventh through tenth.
Methodology
Zpryme and PennEnergy Research survey of a nationally representative sample of 2,000 U.S. adults conducted from February 2013 to March 2013. The data were collected over the internet.
