The power sector continues its transformation from a one-way to a more distributed grid, but what does the vision of a decentralized power network really look like? And what is the path forward? How much of the transformation will be driven from the national level? How much will be driven from the local level? This research explores the perspectives of both utilities and C&I organizations about how the industry moves toward a more distributed grid. Study topics include:

  • Industry confidence about the growth of the distributed grid—including energy storage, microgrids and other DERs
  • The maturity of the distributed grid—progress that’s been made and hurdles to overcome
  • The influence of the current administration versus more local control
  • The roles that utilities and other organizations play in driving forward the distributed grid
