Monthly consumer energy trend data show that U.S. consumers are increasingly interested in buying or leasing electric vehicles (EV). Further, the data show that a record 33.3 million adults used their tablet and/or smartphone to monitor their energy usage in April of 2014.
- Smart grid awareness has remained relatively steady, but the last four months show a slight uptick in overall awareness.
- Year-over-year, demand for home energy management systems (HEMS) was relatively flat in April of 2014.
Clearly, the monthly data show exciting gains when it comes to EV interest and consumers becoming more engaged with their energy usage. However, industry stakeholders still have plenty of work to do on all fronts when it comes to developing an educated and robust consumer energy market.
