The purpose of this quarterly report is to track return to work expectations and the importance of having a remote work option among employees. The results of the analysis are presented by age, U.S. region, and gender. The data in this report was collected at the end of September 2021.

The data and graphics in this report are from Zpryme’s monthly and quarterly consumer benchmarking surveys. Data is based upon a nationally representative survey sample of 1,000 U.S. adults (margin of error: +/- 3.5%).
Highlights
- For those respondents who are working with jobs, 37.0% are already back in the office, 22.6% say working from home is not an option, and another 11.9% say they don’t have to return to the office.
- While working remotely was important to 49.0% of the sample, 27.1% rated it very important. The youngest respondents (18-24) had the biggest group (35.8%) who said that working remotely was very important.
- A comparison about data from the three quarters from March to September 2021 revealed a drop in those who were working with jobs from 62.0% in June to 41.1% in September. The importance for working remotely has remained relatively stable across the three quarterly reporting periods (ranging 48.8% to 49.4%), but the percentage rating very important has dropped from 32.4% in June to 27.1% in September.
