Zpryme’s May consumer perceptions survey showed that 48.6% believed their utility should place a high priority on climate change, with the Western region having the highest percentage (52.9%) compared to other regions. Respondents in the Western U.S. also represented the largest group geographically (48.3%), who believe their utility should place a high priority on investing in renewable energy.
As record summer heat and related fatalities continue in the Pacific Northwest and western Canadian provinces, utilities, regulators, and legislators will continue to face increased pressure in 2021 to make actionable investments and implement measures to combat climate change and develop next-generation smart infrastructure.
