The data and graphics in this report are from Zpryme’s monthly and quarterly consumer benchmarking surveys. Data is based upon a nationally representative survey sample of 1,000 U.S. adults (margin of error: +/- 3.5%).

  • Over half (51.3%) said their utility should place a high priority on climate change, with the western region of the U.S. having the largest proportion (53.0%) saying a high priority should be placed. More females (54.8%) than males (47.6%) said a high priority about climate change should be placed.
  • While 40.5% of all respondents said a high priority should be placed by their utilities on investing in renewable energy sources, the largest proportion saying high priority was noted for those living in the northeast (48.3%).
  • A review of findings from March to September revealed those saying a climate change should be a high priority in September (51.3%) within the past range of 45.3% to 53.8%. The two coastal regions (northeast and west) continue to exhibit the largest groups voicing a high priority for climate change. There was a drop in September (40.5%) from August (48.5%) for those who said a high priority should be placed by utilities on investing in renewable energy. And the coastal regions continue to have the largest groups saying a high priority should be placed on investing in renewables; but which coast has the largest varies from month to month.
