Orlando, FL – February 26, 2024 – Froliq, a pioneer in extended reality (XR) technology, in collaboration with Oracle Energy and Water, is unveiling a revolutionary augmented reality (AR) application at the Oracle Edge Conference in Austin, Texas, following an exclusive preview by Froliq’s Ines Said at DistribuTECH in Orlando, Florida, at booth 1601.

The AR app, a key element of a broader integrated platform, is designed to transform how utility companies manage and communicate about the future of a decarbonized energy system. Developed in the Oracle Industry Lab in Chicago, it integrates Froliq’s advanced AR technology with Oracle Energy and Water’s DER management systems, offering an unprecedented perspective of the impacts of renewable generation, storage, EVs and energy management technologies on tomorrow’s grid.

Jason Rodriguez, CEO and Co-Founder of Froliq, emphasizes the importance of this development. “In a time where power reliability is more critical than ever, our AR app is a game-changer for the utility industry,” says Rodriguez. “It’s not just about seeing the energy flow; it’s about understanding them in a human context. This app will enable utilities to visualize both utility and customer owned energy devices in real-time, making complex data accessible and actionable for both utilities and their customers.”

Mike Ballard, Vice President of Industry Strategy for Oracle Energy and Water, highlights the innovative aspect of this collaboration. “The integration of AR into utility management represents a significant leap forward,” Ballard notes. “It’s about bringing a new dimension to how we visualize and optimize the customer centric energy grid of the future. This technology will not only enhance the way utilities operate but also revolutionize the customer experience during critical times.”

The launch of this AR app marks the beginning of a new era in utility management, focusing on enhancing the user experience as more and more renewable energy assets appear on the grid, and improving DER strategies. Following this release, Froliq and Oracle will expand their focus to developing the comprehensive integrated platform, addressing the challenges of visualizing outages, as well as managing the lifecycle of utility and customer owned assets.
